NEW AMERYKAH HITS STORES FEBRUARY 26, 2008

(DALLAS, TX -- February 25, 2008) Multiplatinum Universal Motown artist and four-time Grammy winner, Erykah Badu celebrates the release of her fourth studio album New Amerykah, Part One: 4th World War with a festive Old School Midnight Release Party & Album Signing on Monday, Feb. 25, at 10 p.m., at the legendary Bills Records and Tapes, the largest independent record store in Dallas, located at 1317 South Lamar St.

The album signing, sponsored by MySpace, the social networking web site, is hosted by Dallas based DJs, the Cannabinoids. Badu will autograph copies of New Amerykah and kick it with her loyal fans until 1 a.m. MySpace representatives will be there to reward the event's first 100 attendees with tickets to Badu’s CD Release Listening Party and Jam Session at the House of Blues, 2200 N Lamar St, on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Badu’s friends on MySpace friends are also invited to print out for their profile with Erykah in their top 8 friends to Bills Records and Tapes.

In celebration of the release, which coincides with Badu’s birthday on Feb. 26, Universal Motown and her independent label Control Freaq Records, will throw a listening party and jam session at Dallas’ House of Blues, 2200 N Lamar Street. Badu and her band will perform live cuts from New Amerykah and the evening will feature an impressive bill of artists to jam on stage, many of whom collaborated with Badu on New Amerykah, including Amir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson of the Roots, Doyle Bramhall II, SA-RA, Kareem Riggins, 9th Wonder, Bilal and Madlib. Doors open at 8 p.m.

The party continues the following night, Wednesday, Feb 27, as Badu along with special guest, Biz Markie hosts a party to benefit her non-profit organization, Beautiful Love Incorporated Non-Profit Development (B.L.I.N.D.). Badu, Biz Markie, 9th Wonder and other surprise guest DJ’s will remix cuts from New Amerykah at Ghostbar, a sleek lounge located on the 33rd floor in Dallas' W Hotel, from 8 p.m.- 2 a.m. Legendary Hip Hop MC and DJ Biz Markie will replace the originally schedule Q-Tip, as host of the event.

Also on Wednesday, Badu will release a limited edition Pink/Purple Double Vinyl exclusively for DJs. This will include underground tracks “The Healer” and “Real Thang”, produced by Madlib. Within weeks of the original release of New Amerykah, limited edition copies of the CD will come in the form of a USB stick which contains exclusive behind-the-scenes performance footage, interviews with Erykah Badu, plus the “Honey” music video and the album artwork by graphic artist Emek, "The Thinking Man's Poster Artist".

Erykah Badu ascended to superstardom with her earth-shattering debut Baduizm, a powerful mélange of classic soul and modern R&B, which gave birth to the term 'neosoul.' The album sold more than five million copies worldwide and clinched Grammies for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Album. In 2000, Badu delivered the highly lauded follow-up, Mama's Gun, which also reached platinum status. In 2003, she released Worldwide Underground, which spawned the megahit "Love of My Life".
