ACCORDING TO MTV.COM, LIL' WAYNE APPRECIATES THE LOVE FROM MARY J. BLIGE! CHECK OUT THE ARTICLE:
Lil Wayne Says He'll 'Never Forget' Post-Arrest Phone Call From Mary J. Blige
At any given moment, Lil Wayne can get a call from one of his peers in the music industry — whether a well-known superstar or a new jack on the come-up — and he will gladly give that person a verse or two. Sometimes, given the dozens of cameos he's made over the past three years, it's difficult for him to remember them all. Last week, however, one was heavy on his brain. Weezy was literally screaming with excitement.
"I did joints with Mary J. Blige, my n---as!" he exulted, sitting on his infamous tour bus in New Orleans, mimicking Jay-Z's quotable lyric from 1998's "If I Should Die." Weezy F. Baby recently completed a remix of Mary's "Just Fine," which also features Swizz Beatz.
"And killed it. Killed it," Wayne said of his performance on the song (he also killed it at a New Jersey gig last weekend). "She called me back and was like, 'Oh my God. I love it. I wanna thank you, Wayne.' That meant so much to me."
While the kudos from the queen of hip-hop soul were a major boost to his ego, the Louisiana MC's heart was touched by a phone call he received during one of his darkest moments: his recent arrest for drug possession in Yuma, Arizona.
"You know what else meant so much to me, dawg?" Wayne asked. "When I went to jail and I'm going through all that, you know who called me? That woman! Everybody who had deals with me started pulling out on me, so I thought she was another person calling like, 'We had another idea, we're not gonna go with you on the song.' She called to tell me 'thank you again for the songs' and to make sure I was OK. 'I just wanna make sure you all right. Don't let that get to you. You killed the song, by the way. Thank you again.' I'll never forget her for that."
Weezy also noted that he has no hard feelings for any of his would-be business associates who decided to pull out in the wake of his recent legal difficulties.
"It's business with that," he explained. "The people that turned their backs on me, it's business anyway. If I made it bad for business, it wasn't nothing I can do about it. I wasn't expecting to be like no family, but a lot of them did pull out. It's all good.
"Tha Carter III is gonna be amazing," he added of his forthcoming LP. "No matter what happens to me, Tha Carter III is gonna be amazing."

Also on Wednesday, Badu will release a limited edition Pink/Purple Double Vinyl exclusively for DJs. This will include underground tracks “The Healer” and “Real Thang”, produced by Madlib. Within weeks of the original release of New Amerykah, limited edition copies of the CD will come in the form of a USB stick which contains exclusive behind-the-scenes performance footage, interviews with Erykah Badu, plus the “Honey” music video and the album artwork by graphic artist Emek, "The Thinking Man's Poster Artist".
Erykah Badu ascended to superstardom with her earth-shattering debut Baduizm, a powerful mélange of classic soul and modern R&B, which gave birth to the term 'neosoul.' The album sold more than five million copies worldwide and clinched Grammies for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Album. In 2000, Badu delivered the highly lauded follow-up, Mama's Gun, which also reached platinum status. In 2003, she released Worldwide Underground, which spawned the megahit "Love of My Life".

[THE TONEX INTERVIEW]
Yo Tonex!! What’s going on? Of course, we would like to thank you for doing this interview!
WELL THANK YOU 4 HAVING ME!
This here is a question that we begin all of our interviews with. Most people see the title of our site and wonder what’s the deal with it. Well, I came to a point one day where I realized that music is my addiction. [laughs] I know that sounds crazy but, it’s like you always want the newest and best music and there is rarely a moment where music is not involved in what we are doing. So, my question is, would you consider music an addiction for you? And why or why not?
MUSIC IS DEFINITELY AN ADDICTION FOR ME. I CRAVE IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. I ALSO NOTICED THAT PEOPLE TREAT MY MUSC LIKE A DRUG. THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT. I SHOULD HAVE NAMED MY MIX TAPE "THE DRUG DEALER" CUZ TRUTH IS ....THE SHIT IS DOPE. NOT TO BRAG BUT I MEAN, I REALLY LIKE WHAT I DO , AND IF IT WASN'T ME I WOULD BUY IT MYSELF. I AM ADDICTED TO THE MUSIC THAT I HAVE TO MAKE BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND IT TOO MANY PLACES OUTSIDE OF LAURYN , CHRISETTE MICHELLE OR D'ANGELO AND OH YES OF COURSE, LEDESI.
We know a lot about Tonex. We also know a lot about what people think of Tonex and what people think they know about Tonex. Give us YOUR definition of YOU!
A MAVERICK, A LONE SOLDIER, AN ANOMALY, FREAK OF NATURE, THE UNSPOKEN NOTHING THAT'S LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING. I'M SENSUAL BECAUSE IM SPIRITUAL FIRST. I'M A HELPLESS ROMANTIC. I'M THE TRUTH THAT YOU LOVE, BUT THE NIKKA YOU LOVE 2 HATE. I AM YOU ON ANY GIVEN DAY SO IF THERE'S SOMETHING IN ME THAT YOU SEE THAT YOU DON'T LIKE OR RECOGNIZE IT COULD BE A STRONG INDICATION THAT THAT SAME TRAIT LIES REPRESSED WITHIN U SOMEWHERE. I'M LIKE A DOLPHIN BECAUSE WHEN IM WITH MY ENGINEER WE COMMUNICATE IN A CODE THAT'S NOT AUDIBLE TO HUMAN EARS; WE JUST KNOW WHERE EACH OTHER WANTS TO GO. IM A HUMANITARIAN, IM THE SPOKESPERSON FOR THE HIDDEN ADDICTION, IM THE STREET REP FOR THE PRIVATE STRUGGLE, BUT IM ALSO THE POSTER CHILD FOR TRIUMPH OVER TRAGEDY.
This question was also asked in our last interview. When did you get to the age of understanding? Like…when was that moment when you said to yourself, “Okay, I am destined for greatness. If I just abide by God’s word and draw nearer, everything will fall into place!”?
WELL ACTUALLY SINCE I WAS A KID I ALWAYS KNEW THAT ME AND GOD HAD A VERY OPEN RELATIONSHIP, BEFORE I WAS INDOCTRINATED WITH THE FEAR OF HIM [AND IM NOT REFERRING TO REVERENCE]. IRONICALLY, EVEN WHEN I DIDN'T "LINE UP" IN MY OWN EYESIGHT, HIS FORESIGHT OVERRODE MY OWN DEFICIENCY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF MANKIND. IM STILL NOT "LINED UP". BUT I BLESS UP JAH EVERYDAY AND HE LOOKS OUT FOR ME. HE'S WAY MORE PATIENT THEN WHAT THE AVERAGE PREACHER/BELIEVER GIVES HIM CREDIT FOR.
Okay, I have been a fan of your music for a long time; like back to the Pronounced Toe-Nay project. I was all like…10. [laughs] Anyway, a lot people don’t know that you have a quite serious discography! In total, how many projects have you released? [&& give the titles]

Tell us about Pronounced Toe-nay; the title, the process, as well as the inspirations.
WELL BACK THEN I WAS VERY VERY NAIVE. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I COULDN'T DO BECAUSE I HAD NOTHING COMPARE WHAT I DID WITH. I WASN'T A PART OF THE GOSPEL SCENE AND DIDN'T COME UP THE RANKS IN THE GMWA. I WAS JUST IN SAN DIEGO DOING MUSIC THAT MADE ME FEEL GOOD AND THEN OTHERS FELT IT. I WAS VERY MUCH INTO SPEARHEAD AT THE TIME. I WAS DEFINITELY TAPPED INTO THE YEAR OF 1976. THERE WERE SO MANY ELEMENTS THAT WERE WAY BEFORE MY TIME THAT I KNEW FLUENTLY HOW TO CONVEY. TO ME PRONOUNCED TOE-NAY WAS WHEN LYRICALLY I REALLY BROKE OUT. THERE WERE MANY TIMES WHEN I WOULD JUST WRITE LYRICS TO THE FILL IN BECAUSE THE MUSIC WAS THE MAIN DRIVING COMPONENT. SOMETIMES VERSE 1 GOING TWICE [LAUGHS]. BUT SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MY "PEN" ON THAT ALBUM AND I STARTED BASICALLY WRITING SOME REAL SHIT FOR THE FIRST TIME. AND THAT WAS SCARY AT FIRST BECAUSE I WAS SAYING THINGS THAT I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD THE COURAGE TO SAY. IF YOU LISTEN 2 THE MUSIC BACK THEN [ 1997 ] NOTHING WAS OUT THAT WAS LIKE THAT PIECE AT THE TIME [ AT LEAST NOT THE DIVERSITY OF THAT LP]. AND IN GOSPEL THERE IS STILL NO ALBUM THAT TACKLES THE RAW ELEMENTS OF SPIRITUAL AND NATURAL UP AND DOWNS THAT EXPLICITLY. YOU CAN TELL THAT THE CORE OF THE NAKED TRUTH AND THE RODE LESS TRAVELED WERE IN ME BACK THEN, BUT I WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO LET IT OUT.
The same with Out The Box; explain the title, the process, as well as the inspirations.
OUT THE BOX WAS MY GREATEST GOSPEL SUCCESS AND MY GREATEST CURSE BECAUSE OF BIG BUSINESS. THEY [RECORD LABELS] LOVE BLOCKBUSTER RECORDS AND THEY "ALWAYS" WANT A SEQUEL [LAUGHS]. I DIDN'T WANNA DO A SEQUEL TO OUT THE BOX ! THE PROCESS WAS A GRUELING 6 MONTHS OF INTENSE REHEARSAL 18 -21 HOUR DAYS. I MEAN I WAS RUNNING 4 REHEARSALS AT THE SAME TIME. TWO SEPARATE GROUP OF SINGERS, CHOREOGRAPHY, AND THE BAND ...IT WAS CRAZY. I WAS INSPIRED BY ROCK OPERAS SUCH AS JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, IN WHICH ONE DAY I PLAN TO PLAY THE ROLE OF TED NEELY [AS JESUS] ON BROADWAY. THAT WAS MY MAIN INSPIRATION ON THAT RECORD. MY FATHER WAS THE BRAINCHILD BEHIND THE WHOLE POPPING OUT THE BOX SITUATION. HE WAS THE SENIOR PROJECT CONSULTANT FOR THAT ALBUM. HE REALLY WAS PROUD OF ME. HE DIED BEFORE HE COULD SEE THE FINAL CUT ON THE MOVIE OUT THE BOX, BUT I KNOW HE STILL SAW IT ANYWAY. DAMN, THAT STILL MAKES ME SAD BUT AT LEAST IT DOESN'T HURT ANYMORE.
One more time! [laughs] Talk about Oak Park; explain the title, the process, as well as the inspirations.
OAK PARK WAS THE SEQUEL TO PRONOUNCED TOE-NAY. ALTHOUGH "02" CAME 2 YEARS AFTER PRONOUNCED TOE-NAY , IT WAS NOT AND I REPEAT NOT THE ORIGINAL ALBUM I TURNED IN , NOR WAS IT THE ALBUM THAT I WANTED THE PUBLIC TO HEAR, THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER STORY. OAK PARK WAS SUPPOSED TO COME OUT AUGUST 19TH, 2003. THE LABEL WAS AFRAID OF IT. SO BASICALLY ALL OF MY THROW AWAY ALBUMS BY THE LABEL ALWAYS END UP BEING HERALDED AS MY GREATEST ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS. OAK PARK WAS THE ALBUM WHERE THAT SAME DIARYESQUE APPROACH THAT PRONOUNCED TOE NAY HAD BLOSSOMED.
What’s next, musically, for you? && what’s going on with that Stereotype project?
WHO KNOWS? THAT DAMN LABEL AGAIN! [LAUGHS]
I, personally, have not been through everything that you have in life, therefore I cannot honestly say that I agree with everything that you have spoken out about. I feel you on a lot of things though and a lot of what you say needs to be said! A lot of people are struggling && feel that God doesn’t love them because of their struggle. Although, like you said in one of my favorite tracks, I Found Love, the love is not always something that we deserve! But you and I both are living witnesses; God’s love is REAL! [That love that MJB was looking for back in ’92!] God said in his word, “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU!” With that said, thanks again man! This interview is definitely appreciated! && pray for us, as we pray for you! Keep us up to date with the new && future projects!!! May God bless you in this year, 2008!!!

MARY J. BLIGE OUT ROCKIN A NEW HAIRCUT...
AT THE SAKS FIFTH AVENUE 'UNFORGETTABLE EVENING' EVENT.
[WORK THAT MARY!]
BUT WHERE IS THAT SECOND SINGLE???
[MARY ON ONE LIFE TO LIVE EARLIER THIS WEEK]
[BADU IS COMING]
"Erykah has always said it: she’s a touring artist that happens to record on the side – using recording to capture a moment, and touring as a means to create them. It’s a pretty good chance that with that state of mind, VH1 Soul teamed up with Badu for “SoulStage: Erykah Badu.” Erykah set up camp for the night to tape the show at Brooklyn’s St. Anne’s Warehouse with only about a hundred fans, supporters, and label team members. Equipped with a casual ensemble and afro in disarray, or in place – whatever you prefer – the Neo-Soul Queen gave New York loyalists a very intimate glimpse of new tracks from Nu Amerykah, due out February 26th.
Taking the audience down memory lane to “1997 A.D” Erykah flawlessly belted “On & On” with the same ease she did when she gave birth to the neo-soul masterpiece. Running through numerous new material produced by J Dilla, which was mentioned in remembrance numerous times through the set, surprisingly shows a growth in vocals and interpretation – yes, it’s possible. The new LP’s forecasted second single “Soldier” has Badu acknowledging that we all know what the track is about, but cares not to repeat a concept that encourages and describes brothers. “Other Side of the Game” was preceded by a story about her management sending her to record that song with no knowledge of who The Roots were. “Honey” has Badu telling the story of how it became the first single – a one on one conversation with Universal Records President Sylvia Rhone, or as Erykah likes to call her, “…a Black woman running things.”
At St. Anne’s stage with a thermos full of tea to her right and beat machine to her left, Badu displayed her instinctive tendency to make the stage her home for the moment. She shared an anecdote as she took off her shoes - holding Eric Benet, her opening act from back in the day, responsible for the habit. The only trace of Badu’s stardom was a woman trotting from backstage and flattening the oversized wig…um, afro. Even having witnessed that scene, Badu still makes you feel like you’re at New York City’s SOB’s in 1997 watching the Baduizm buzz tour, not for lack of greatness, but because pretentiousness is tossed to the wind.
Further proving the amazing humility that makes Badu’s artistry tangible enough to eat was her ending set. Shouting out solo female artists that came after her - “Lauryn, we miss you. Mary J, she sings so pretty. Jilly, from Philly. Ms. Arie, you are loved, and Beyonce, home town love” – it’s apparent that she feels no need to stifle women that represent all Black women in music. Erykah’s one artist you won’t hear bitching about a misdirected genre title. She’s too busy turning back time, feeding you present moments, and showing you a hopeful musical future- all at the same time. Catch this special moment for yourself when it airs on VH1."

BEYONCE IS SET TO PLAY ETTA JAMES IN A UPCOMING FILM!
"Beyonce Knowles is adding "executive producer" to her resume. The 10-time Grammy winner has signed on to executive produce and star in Darnell Martin's "Cadillac Records" for Sony BMG Films.
Knowles will play Etta James in the 1950s period film about the Chicago record company Chess Records; its founder, Leonard Chess; and the turbulent lives of some of the label's legends, who included Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Chuck Berry.
Martin ("Their Eyes Were Watching God") penned the screenplay. Sony BMG's Andrew Lack and Sofia Sondervan are producing for the 3-year-old specialty label.
Knowles joins a cast that includes Adrien Brody (Chess), Jeffrey Wright (Waters), Cedric the Entertainer (Willie Dixon) and Columbus Short (Little Walter). Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard co-star.
Music for the film is being produced by Steve Jordan ("Cars," "The Sopranos"). Knowles will record four songs for the soundtrack, which will be released through Music World Entertainment and Columbia Records.
The singer/actress will donate a portion of her fees for the film to recovering addicts through her family's charity, the Survivor Foundation, according to her reps."

[SAY A LITTLE PRAYER]
Aretha Franklin is now under attack by PETA!
In an open letter to the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. hitmaker, PETA representative Dan Matthews writes, "Music lovers may think of you as a 'queen,' but to animal lovers, you are a court jester... "Why not shed the old-fashioned look that adds pounds to your frame and detracts from your beautiful voice? Please consider donating your furs to the homeless as 'queen of compassion,' Mariah Carey, did. You'll get a tax credit for the donation, and we at PETA will all sing your praises."

[THE J.R. INTERVIEW]
HERE IT IS! THE J.R. INTERVIEW!
What’s good man? First off, we would like to thank you for doing this interview.
Now, this is a question that we begin all of our interviews with. Many people wonder about our site’s title. Well, I came to a point one day where I realized that music is my addiction. [laughs] I know that sounds crazy but, it’s like you always want the newest and best music and there is rarely a moment where music is not involved in what we are doing. So, my question is, would you consider music an addiction for you? And why or why not?
I don't know. I've never had to live without music so it's hard to tell if I'm really addicted. I am however addicted to life, and melody and song are very important fibers of life.
How would you define or introduce yourself to a complete stranger?
I would give my name, background, etc. and let them know I was a man of faith and that life is found in Jesus Christ.
[addicted.] features mostly Hip Hop, R&B, & Gospel artists. Me personally, I listen to all types of music. But being raised in the church, my foundation will always be gospel. What kind[s] of music inspired you when you were younger? What are you bumpin in you ride or on your iPod right now?
As a young buck I was inspired by all things hip hop and soulful—like Jodeci, Biggie, Pac, NAS, Mary J, Sade—and the sounds of Gospel artists John P. Kee and the late James Moore. But as I got older I was drawn to rock and pop music like: Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Duran Duran and Backstreet Boys [yes…the Backstreet Boys] [laughs]Right now, the albums that have heavy rotation in my iPod include Leeland's "Sound of Melodies," Kennas "Make Sure They See My Face," Radio Head’s "In Rainbows," One Republic ’s "Dreaming Out Loud" and Lupe Fiasco’s "The Cool." But generally, you can also find me listening to the music of artists such as: FLAME, Hillsongs United, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Kirk Franklin and Lecrae. I’m very selective about the music I listen to. You will note that it’s an eclectic mix of both Christian and mainstream Rock, Pop and Hip Hop albums. The common thread is music that is at the very least positive and at its best God glorifying.
When did you get to the age of understanding? Like…when was that moment when you said to yourself, “Okay, I am destined for greatness. If I just abide by God’s word and draw nearer, everything will fall into place!”?
I felt like I was destined to do great things before I knew God, but it was when I found him [around 18], I knew that if I was going to be something great it would be by his hand in his plan and by his grace.
Now, Life By Stereo, wasn't your first project! How long have you been in the game?
I’ve been in the “game” for about 11 or 12 years, half of which was spent doing secular music. Before cats heard of J.R. the artist, they heard of J.R. the producer from my work with The Cross Movement and various artists.
Explain Life By Stereo; the title, the cover, the process, as well as the inspirations.
The title came from an attempt to make a statement about what my music is all about—communicating life rather than death through my music. The cover came when I saw this old stereo my homeboy had that belonged to his grandfather. It is from the 80's and I loved the vintage look. I figured since I was calling it Life By Stereo this stereo coupled with my look as a modern rocker [faded jeans, chucks and all] would set it off! The process was scary but beautiful. I say this because writing for this project was totally different than Metamorphosis. I was completely thinking out-of-the-box and was taking a big risk by unleashing this melting pot of creativity in my head. At the same time, it was beautiful because God was pushing me past my comfort zone and challenging me to trust Him. As far as inspiration goes, life and all its components inspired me—from my walk, to the trials of others—they all played a part in creating this record. And of course you can hear different genres of music throughout the album, ranging from Rock to Pop to Hip Hop and Soul.
Not A Slave! That song right there is…BANANAS! How did that song come about?
I was in the studio writing music and I did this pop/rock sounding track. I started free-styling to it and my homie was like "that's bangin!" After that I started vibing to the track and began reminiscing about my fight with sexual sin as a bachelor, how God rescued me from myself. After about a half an hour the song was done and I knew it was crazy.
Another one of my favorite tracks from on the album is We Need You. The first time I listened to it, I had to just put it on repeat for a minute. [laughs] It just gave me this feeling like…WOW! Sometimes, we get wrapped up in the world and forget how much we really need him! Talk about that track a little bit.
“We Need You” came at a time when things were crazy in the life of so many around me and how their situations reminded me of how important it is to cling to the joy of knowing God when everything around us seems to be falling apart. No matter whats going on we have to remember that salvation lies in God.
What is your favorite track on the album?
Hmm, that's a tough one. My favorite track would have to be... “Not A Slave.”
What would be your dream collaboration, like who is the one artist that you would really love to work with?
I really don’t have a dream collab but if I had to choose one it would be with the Neptunes—if they were redeemed of course!
Finally, leave us with one fact about you that no one else knows.
I know this is hard to see but I am a devout hunter. I love the outdoors and have enjoyed hunting since I was 13 years old. As a young buck I spent a lot of my weekends in the country with my grandfather.
Thanks again man. We really appreciate you coming through and doing this interview. You are truly blessed and we pray that God continues to bless you in 2008!

'If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.'
- [ 1 Corinthians 13:2-7 ]
